Chitin - Equuleus - Nurses Office
Ivy's reassurance seemed to fall on deaf ears for Chitin. He was more concerned about everything, "I, its just that you're may only friend Ivy. I don't want you to get hurt because of me. Or, or worse. It's, it's just that I, I don't want to lose you Ivy." the changeling finally said, feeling himself begin to choke up with concern, his face contorting as he struggled to hide it "I don't want to be alone again in this place."

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Ivy looked away guiltily. She hadn't thought that far ahead."Chitin, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be fine, you'll see." She said calmly, though she wasn't entirely sure if that was true. She had branded herself a target, not just to the Tristomps either. Their sister sorority would hear about it, and the deans wouldn't be happy either. But she couldn't think about that now. "You need to worry about you right now, and getting better. Besides, I'm not the only friend you have. Those two other mares that were here earlier saved you, and the stallion and the griffin. You have more friends than you think. "
The quiet moment was suddenly interrupted by the jingling of Ivy's cell phone. She stared at the screen for a moment, then let out a groan before picking up the call. "Hello?" She said, grimacing. "Ivy! Thank the sister's you're safe! You are safe, aren't you?" Lens blurted out over the other end of the line. Ivy sighed heavily. "Yes, Lens. I'm safe." She assured disinterestedly. "Ivy don't you ever do anything like this again! Where are you!" Lens demanded, her voice suddenly tinged with anger. "Are you responsible? For what happened at the Tristomp house?" She questioned angrily, "Are you!" Ivy winced, exasperated. "Yes, it was me, Lens. I planted the poison joke. I'm in Equuleus, in the infirmary, if you've been sent to collect me." Ivy answered calmly, almost bitterly. She had expected this, but still it was somewhat of a shock hearing Lens this angry."Well, then don't move! I'm on my way!"

Chroma vacated the greenhouse as soon as he got the call. He didn't know how powerful the joke was and he didn't want to find out. He went to the coffee shop and scrubbed up and good coffee for himself, Lens and Ivy on his way to the school medical clinic and met Lens just outside the door to a room. "What's the story?" he asked, handing her a cup.

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
The call ended and Ivy looked up at Chitin apologetically. "Well, it looks like the calm before the storm just ran out." She said bitterly, giving him a half hearted smile. "We're about to have company..." She said apologetically.
Lens took the coffee from Chroma and shoved her phone in her pocket, seething with concern and anger. She grabbed his hand with her other hand and dragged him into the building behind her.
Ivy barely had time to let out a sigh. Behind her, she could hear the front door to the building being thrown open, and the angry click of horseshoes in the hall. She sat still until she heard the door to the infirmary open, but didn't turn around as she could almost feel Lens' angry presence enter the room. "I swear to Luna I'll..." Lens muttered as she grabbed a hold of Ivy's shoulder and spun her around, "What in the blue BLAZES were you thinking! What is wrong with yo..." Lens started yelling, but trailed off as her eyes went over Ivy's head to where Chitin lay on the bed.
He was badly wounded, with cracks visible in his carapace, where green blood had finally oozed to a scabbing sludge. He was in bad shape, and Lens couldn't find a voice to continue. Her eyes followed the line of his figure under the blanket until they fell on a brownish smudge of dirt in the shape of folded arms. She turned slowly to look at Ivy, whose entire front was completely covered in dirt and soil. She blinked a couple of times, and heard Hannibal's voice echoing in her mind, "There's been an assault..." She stared at them both, hard, as her brain put two and two together like interlocking puzzle pieces. "... Oh..."

Chroma put an arm on Lens as soon as he saw what state Chitin's in. "Hi Chitin,Ivy" he said a bit softly. "I'm sure whatever you did was totally justified." he said, his teeth clenching up a bit, the pieces of the puzzle fitting in for him as well, but he tried not to let the anger at someone being senselessly hurt color his voice. "What happened, someone get jealous of you taking note of Ivy first?"

Chitin - Equuleus - Nurses Office
"He,he,he, if only" Chitin managed to chuckle flinching a few times. "N-no, some stallions, Tri-Tri-Stomps I think they were called. They, they hit me, chased, chased me and then, then did this, because I was I was a changeling." he explained to the two new guests. Letting out a ragged breath, he looked to Ivy, "I'm again, sorry about all this. I should have scheduled a different, a different day or something."

Ivy's face softened and she looked back over her shoulder at Chitin. "We can reschedule. It's alright." She said softly before turning back to Lens and Chroma, "I couldn't just let this go. Someone had to teach them a lesson. They didn't get what they deserved, but they got my best shot this side of poisoning the entire house." She said, her hands balled into fists at her sides, "It wasn't right and it wasn't fair. I got even for Chitin, and to Tartarus with the consequences." She said defiantly, her scarlet eyes gleaming behind her glasses.
Lens couldn't help but admire the fire in Ivy's eyes. This was a side of her roommate she didn't know existed. Nothing she had ever said or done had even hinted at the defiant made that stood before her now. Lens smiled lopsidedly despite herself. "It's alright. I get it. You were making a stand, for someone who couldn't stand up for themselves. That's very noble of you, little sunflower." Lens said warmly, her hand landing on top of Ivy's head, ruffling her hair a bit, "But, next time, and hopefully there's not a next time, you should ask for help from the ponies... And dragons, who care about you. You had Dean Hannibal worried sick." She said, then felt her spirits falter, and she pulled out her phone.
"That reminds me..." She murmured, one hand on Ivy's head, and the other dialing the Dean's number. The phone rang a few times, and as the other end of the line picked up, Lens locked eyes with Chitin apologetically. "Sorry..." she mouthed as the dean's voice came over the phone. "This had best be good news, Miss Llewyn." Lens let out a sigh. "Yeah, we found her. She was in the infirmary with Chitin. She's not denying anything." She said almost bitterly. "Where do you want us to bring her to you?"

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Dean Artemus Decoff - Equuleus - Halls
With a brisk step, Art moved through the halls of Equuleus, at first perturbed by the interruption of his yoga class with the campus security, the minotaur fully understood after hearing the rest of the story, a student assaulted on the campus? He wasn't one to get angry but even this ruffled his fur to the point of agitation. There was no other information on who was attacked or who the attackers were but he had ideas, but he hoped he was wrong. Most of those boys were good kids, prideful and verbose about their upbringing sure, but still good kids in the long run.
Turning the corner Art noticed the quickly approaching Deans, Hannibal and Firesong. Kerrigan looked flustered and perturbed, well more flustered and perturbed than usual. But if there was any way to get answers it was through her. Despite the fact that they didn't often see eye to eye on many things, an event like this they should be able to work together.
"Kerri, Fire," he 'called' as he approached the two. "What's this I hear about an assault? Also..." The minotaur gave pause as he finally got a good look at Kerrigan. She was entirely too uptight, all that pent up aggression and stress, "Kerri! What did I say about that stress you keep holding in? It's not good for you sweety. Keeping you all up tight like a wound up spring." Moving behind, the dragon, he quickly found the point where her wings met her back, using his thumbs he began massaging the joints as he followed behind her. *Tsk Tsk* "you're gonna be the death of yourself if you keep going like this Kerri. Oh right assault what happened and how may I help?"

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Under normal circumstances, Kerrigan tolerated a certain amount of, professional variances, without much issue. Art Deco, on the other hand, bothered her. The casual disregard for personal space, the effortless way he made physical contact, the softness of his voice, it all bothered Kerrigan to her core. She shrugged away from him, restraining the urge to take offense. "A student was attacked and very nearly beaten to death. There's a study room here in Equuleus that is all but ruined, retaliation against the perpetrators has resulted in a veritable field of poisonous plants on school grounds, and if we are very, very lucky, there won't be an international incident," Kerrigan said, in clipped tones.
"Clearly, I was overly merciful the last time I had to intervene. Perhaps a more harsh disciplinary method will finally get through to them. At any rate, that's not why we're here," Kerrigan said, as the three of them approached the clinic door. "I have reason to believe Evelyn Alistair is responsible for the poison joke infestation around the frat house- and, quite frankly, I cannot be objective in this matter, as I cannot entirely disagree with her methods. Frankly, I can't help but wonder if an earlier application of more Draconian methods could have prevented this tragedy."

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Firesong was about to make her way back to the hospital room when Art Deco came in. Firesong rubbed her head, normally she loved the soft spoken minator, he was easy going and always willing to collaborate on art and music events. But she also knew that he didn't mix well with Kerrigan and that showed as soon as the two started talking. "In this case I'm going to have to mostly agree with Kerrigan, it's a matter of brutality that needs police involvement and some pretty stern restrictions on the Stomps for allowing a culture that encourages such violence. But Kerrigan, I don't see how imposing draconian limits on them before the incident would have helped. They were doing normal things up until the attack, I don't think that harsh measures aside from putting them on academic probation would have prevented this attack from happening, and even then they'd have to be on constant watch. Of course, I support you putting the whole frat on probation while the matter is being investigated. It's a crime and we need to keep a close watch on them while we find out who needs turned into the police for a trial, as well as those who need to either be suspended or tried for being indirectly involved. " She took a breath, maybe now was the time to get herself out of the middle. "But seeing as this involved a frat, not a sorority, I don't have to deal with it. I just have to deal with Evelyn." she said, walking off and into the infermery where she found three ponies around a bedside where a beaten Changling lay. Fire took another breath, she'd seen mistreated students before, but this was plain brutality. She looked over to Ivy to switch her brain's topic.
"There seems to be a lot of ponies in here, maybe I should reduce the number by one or two so Chitin can get some rest, he looks like he needs it. Ivy, can you come out into the hall for a talk? I promise that I'll hear your side of the poison joke story out and be fair in my judgment. Given how justified whatever you did seems to be I'll probably even be a little more than fair."

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Dean Artemus Decoff - Equuleus - Halls
Art was taken slightly aback after hearing Kerrigan's solution to the Tri-Stomp problem this time. "Kerri, forgive me if I'm mistaken but you want these boys to actually work with the authorities right? As in you want them to actually give you reliable and useful information. I don't think simply punishing everyone for even the innocent or ignorant will really do much to help them." the minotaur tried to explain as he followed the other two deans into the nurse's clinic. Seeing the victim of the beating, Art's mood quickly diminished more. He had seen injuries, beatings, even death. He had left the Equestrian military to escape that. To see it here reminded him of it all once again.
"Kerri, let me help with this matter. I can get some of them to talk. You've already set yourself up as the scary dragon dean that will punish, everyone. But by giving them an 'out' for information pertaining to who it is that did this, we can help the authorities more than simply locking them up as if they are all guilty." Art explained, though he had actually never done something like this before, the logic seemed simple, if indeed these perpetrators and possible accomplices of this crime were hiding then giving a few a chance to escape harsher punishment by telling what they knew seemed simple enough. Moreover it was a bit well known the dislike between himself and Kerrigan, him going to the Tri-Stomps would look like he was undermining the dragon and that he was on their side. Sometimes a friendly offer and smile could yield great results.
-----------------------------------
Chitin - Equulus - Nurse's Office
"It's, It's really alright." Chitin tried to answer before Ivy was escorted away. His head drooping. This was what he had been afraid of, the deans were here for Ivy and they even brought a minotaur with them. She was in so much trouble. So much just because she had wanted to avenge him. It felt ridiculous that anyone would actually do that for him. He didn't know what he could even say to try and better the situation. He felt so helpless.

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Ivy heard the deans before she saw them and let out a slow unsteady breath. As they entered the room. She folded her hands in front of her and watched their reactions to Chitin's condition, a pang of protectiveness surging through her and making her shake. She wanted them all to leave, to let him rest, to let her rest. As Dean Firesong called her away, she cast a parting glance at Chitin over her shoulder, and the concern on his face stung her. She bit her lip and followed Firesong out of the room.
Once out in the hallway, she leveled her eyes with the dean who now stood in front of her. She knew what she looked like, covered in dirt, and clearly guilty, but that didn't matter now. "You want my side of the story? Alright. I did it. I sprinkled a mix of topsoil, plant food and poison joke seeds around the frat house. And my presence made them bloom. Chitin is my friend and when I saw what those... " animals had done to him, I couldn't just stand idly by." She said in a calm, even tone, her eyes like rubies, glittering cold and hard, "As you may or may not be aware, I transferred into this school because of multiple incidents of harassment and bullying. It took the administration too long and too many chances to make it stop." She said, and gazed back over her shoulder wistfully, "For Chitin, that was not a gamble I was willing to take. They had to be punished." She said firmly. "I know that by doing this, I have made myself a target, but I don't care. If anything, it will take their focus off of him. I can handle that kind of pain, because I know they can only go so far before they hit atheir limit. And I don't want them going to their limit on Chitin again." She said coldly.

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Firesong listened and nodded slowly. "Firstly, I do need to tell you that we do deal with that kind of incident here. The fraternity that did that is one that we keep a close eye on it and they're currently not allowed out of their house for anything but class. Once we determine whoever directly hurt Chitin we're turning them over to the police. You don't have to take revenge, we'll take care of justice for you whenever we have the chance."
"And because I really can't totally condone attacks on the Tri-Stomps out of revenge, even if they did deserve it, there is going to have to be some punishment for you" Firesong said, but not terribly sternly. "I think that having to spend your Sunday morning tomorrow Winterizing my garden is punishment enough though. I'd have you clean up the mess that you made of the Stomp's yard, but it's pretty handy for keeping them in the house until everything is settled with the police. If it doesn't wilt away in a few weeks I might have you clean it up, but for now I'm sticking with my flower bed. Does that sound fair to you?"

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Kerrigan was about to open her mouth to yell at Art, when it occurred to her that he may actually have a point this time. It was widely known on campus that "Art Deco" was effectively her rival. Her methods had not made any inroads into cracking the fraternity's social structure. If Art played on their known rivalry, perhaps it would put them at ease enough to let something slip. He could be the 'good cop', as it were.
"That... that may actually work. Perhaps a softer methodology will be more effective in coercing them to cooperate, and you are well liked among campus police, as well. As much as it pains me, I believe in this case you may be better equipped to weed out any other, shall we say, malcontents," Kerrigan said, sitting down in one of the waiting room chairs. "Which, if you are going to act as a point of contact, you'll need to know what has occurred. I trust you saw the extent of the boy's injuries. I have acquired considerable evidence and forwarded it to campus police- but from what I can analyze, it becomes quite apparent that three of them were responsible for the assault. I have the names of two accomplices, but not the ringleader. I have my suspicions, but I cannot confirm them with the evidence I have. The Diplomatic Corps will need to know whom is responsible so they can attempt to pacify the Hive. There may even be an extradition as a show of good faith. The Hive itself may be small and in no position to make demands, but were Equestria to refuse to extradite the perpetrator, it would into question existing treaties with other powers who would, no doubt, take offense. Imagine if the Griffon Clans or the UDDR were to get involved, Equestria would have to extradite him. If there is a peaceful resolution to all this, it will all hinge upon finding the ringleader and holding him to account," Kerrigan said, leaving out the fact that she had already contacted her father in the UDDR's department of state affairs.
"I will email you all the information I have. Campus PD already has all of the hard evidence, but I have extensive notes pertaining to an earlier incident with a member of the fraternity that I believe may indicate whom initiated the assault. If you can determine who led the assault and get him to confess- or get his fellows to implicate him- it will make this entire ordeal far easier to handle."

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Ivy watched the mare's lips move and struggled not to roll her eyes. Administration taking care of it? Really? It's just the same old song and dance... Just get to the point please. She thought to herself, barely listening for the simmering defiance in her mind, until the subject of her punishment came up. Her ears rotated forward listening closely, and she stared at the mare in disbelief. Did she really just sentence her to... gardening? And was she agreeing with her fury, if not her methods? Ivy tilted her head in confusion. "Ummm OK. I can do that. Is it a vegetable garden or flowers so I know if I need to bring plastic sheeting to cover the crops or mulch?" She asked unsteadily, waiting for the other shoe to drop. "And do you just need winterizing or do you need landscaping too? I've got a few free Saturdays, and I know a good place for found items to use for inorganic mulch, edging and pathways."
Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
"Winterizing is fine, I had a neighbor do the landscaping. Though I'll keep an eye on you, I might have you revamp my flower garden in Spring, though of course with pay, penance will be over by then. And it's mostly flowers and a few herbs and a tomato plant or two. I don't know what's salvageable and what just needs pulled up, I'll leave that to your discretion" Firesong said quickly. "And it's a small garden, so one morning will be plenty."

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Ivy nodded along, dazed by her suddenly good fortune. She knew automatically what she would need, and made a mental list of what to pack. "Of course, I'll make sure to bring my tools. Come spring, you'll have the loveliest garden on the block." She said, blinking herself back to reality. "We can discuss what kind of plants you want then. What time would you like me to be there? I'll be up and moving by 6AM. I can be there any time after that."
Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
"You don't have to come that early if you don't want to, I normally sleep in on weekends so you can come whenever you want as long as you aren't loud. And as long as it's done by dusk I don't care when you wrap things up, it's your weekend you're taking time out of after all." The pink maned mare said. "And thanks for your good response, I've given out easy punishments before only to be met with grumbles, those normally don't end very well. I really am terribly sorry about what happened to your friend though. I'll be sending out an email across the campus sometime tonight with a notification of what happened as a first tiny step in curbing what the stomps did again. I'll be sure to keep you as up to date on what's going as legally possible as well. We really do take bullying seriously here and I'm sure that at least somepony is getting expelled over this."

Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
Ivy nodded again, "Of course. I'll need to go to the greenhouse early. I'll be by at 9. I promise I'll keep it down." She said, still a little stunned. She mustered a smile, even if it was uneasy, "Thank you, Dean Firesong. I appreciate your concern. I'm sure Chitin will be better soon. And I'm certain he will appreciate the haste and efficiency with which you all are handling this. Thank you." She said with a nod.
Re: Equuleus, Ch 2
"It's the best I can do." Firesong said. "Now, I think you have a friend to keep an eye on, and I have a case to follow up on and a husband to attend to, though I'm unsure as to the order of those. You're free to go until tomorrow morning."
