Equuleus, Ch 2

Postby Lucy Took » Sun Oct 26, 2014 4:08 pm

Equuleus, the administration and cafeteria are found within the largest building on Luna University's campus. A cavernous cafeteria with a dozen cafe's and restaurants all worked by students run along the walls while open air seating and outdoor terrace seating let the students and teachers mingle freely. Off to east side of the building lay the schools bookstore on the first floor, the computer labs on the second and the teacher's offices overlooking everything from the third floor. Across from these is the Bursar office and enrollment, with Advising and administration on the floors above. The south side plays host to the study rooms with more of the administration and teacher offices above it. While the north side of the building providing some of the most lush housing available to students short of the off campus apartments.

Open all hours Equuleus is often bustling with activity as the school technically never shuts down.

Chitin - Equuleus - Study Rooms

Bursting into the first floor of the Equuleus building, Chitin looked for some place to go, some place to vanish. There were some students, very few, it was too early for most more than likely. His head shooting from left to right, fright began to fill the changelings mind as he heard the call of the three behind him. Choosing a random direction, Chitin burst into a sprint, stumbling as he felt the crack in his exoskeleton.

Running down the left hallway, Chitin could hear the three closing in. All around him were empty rooms, with desks, tables, and chairs, but no one else nearby. Each had their doors wide open and their lights off. Coming to stop, the changeling shuffled in place trying to find a place to go, a place to hide, somewhere where he could just get rid of these guys. Why were they after him? He hadn't done anything wrong, he just bumped into one of them nothing more!

Frantic Chitin decided that he couldn't lose them here, if he ducked into a room they'd just search for him, if he turned into someone they'd question why a single student was here, and find out it was him. No this place wasn't good, not good at all. Taking a step he tired to move before suddenly being pulled back, into the chest of the leader of the three. "Well, well well, looks like you're kind aren't that bright. Don't you worry we'll make sure you learn your lesson." the stallion said, pushing Chitin into a darkened study room, the two grunts following in closing the door behind them.

From the outside, all that could be heard were a series of muffled thumps and bangs as the three let out their anger on the changeling. The sounds of a body tumbling off the table then a loud crash of chairs marked by silence as the three Tri-Stomps exited the study room. Their leader looking back and laughing as he closed to door, leaving the beaten Chitin alone in the dark. The only movement coming from his wincing as he sobbed quietly. He could feel cracks along his back and side, a single trickling green ichor running down his face and underbelly. Why, why him, why now? He didn't want to be here anymore. He just wanted to be home. At the hive. He had always heard that Equestria was filled with love and kindness, where was it now? Were they all out of it? Or did he just not deserve it for what he was?

Serenade and Static sat down at a table in the lobby of the Eqquleus building, shooting the breeze after meeting the night before. They had spent most of the night talking, and had decided to meet up again for lunch. As the girls talked about their majors, their likes, their dislikes, and the horrible cafeteria food, Serenade suddenly shrunk down in her seat. While Static might not have been able to hear it, Serenade's trained ear could hear sounds that hinted that something sinister was a foot. Unable to shake the feeling, Serenade reached across the table and grabbed Static's hand. She pulled Static to her feet and motioned for her to follow. "Something isn't right. Come with me." She said quietly.

The two mares hurried along at brisk clip as they wound through the corridors. Serenade heard the Tri-Stomps before she saw them, and pulled Static up next to her in a narrow closet indent, motioning for her to remain quiet. She watched carefully as they passed her by, snickering among themselves. Her eyes trained in on their clothes, which seemed to be spattered with some sort of green substance. She wasn't sure what it was, but if it involved them, it couldn't be good.

After they had passed, she pulled Static out of the nook after her, and focused her ears down the hallway from whence the stallions came. It was quiet, but something almost rhythmic she couldn't put her finger on faintly echoed down the hall, so faintly it was almost non existent. Serenade cast a glance at Static out of the corner of her eye. "Stick close." She whispered, and lead her new friend down the hallway.

She kept her ears honed on the sound, following it like a bloodhound. She pressed a wary ear to every door she passed, until she was sure, at the end of the hallway, she had gotten the right door. She glanced back at Static briefly, unsure if there was only one pony inside, or if a nasty surprise waited for them. Her mouth went dry, and she swallowed hard. Her horn lit up, her magic coursing through her, she manipulated the sound of the words as they came out of her mouth to sound like the much feared dragon dean.

"What is the meaning of this? This door should not be closed." She said in the clipped tone. She listened closely at the door, and when she heard no Tri-Stomps within, she opened the door slowly, and stumbled on the scene, much to her horror.

Chitin - Equuleus - Study Rooms

Chitin didn't know how long he laid there on the ground of the darkened study room. All he knew is that he just wanted to lay there. At least here no one knew where he was and he wouldn't be in any danger. He wished he could be back home in the hive, hidden away from these equines. At least there he felt cared for...no, no that wasn't true there was at least one pony here that had showed him some kindness, Ivy, but the greenhouse felt miles away.

Hearing noise from outside, Chitin curled himself up in a tighter ball, maybe those three had come back maybe they were satisfied with simply beating him.

Morningglory wrote:"What is the meaning of this? This door should not be closed."

A feeling of relief began to fill the changeling as he heard a voice he recognized, it was the dragon, Dean Hannibal. She had no want to hurt him did she? He had just seen her not to long ago and there had been no animosity, no anger. The feeling of relief however quickly turned to fear once again as the door opened. It wasn't the dragon at all it was two more ponies. Curling himself back up, the changeling wept, he was starting to understand how these ponies must've felt whenever his kind revealed themselves, uplifting hope followed by fear and betrayal as the truth came out.

Static followed her new friend, unsure of what was happening but able to recognize that something in her demeanor had changed. It was a rare occasion when the purple unicorn fell silent, but he could tell something was wrong just from the way Serenade acted. And, upon sneaking a peek at the Tri-Stomps walking past, it seemed to be confirmed. Static still didn't know what was going on, but she resolved to follow Serenade's lead, which took them to a locked classroom.

Static gasped loudly at the sight revealed to her, a small Changeling lying cracked and bleeding green stuff on the floor. She raced into the room, leaping over him and landing in his other side, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Holy Starswirl what happened to you?! Never mind not important right now!" She cried, fighting at the rising lump in her throat. It was the Stomps, there was no doubt in her mind, beating up this poor defenseless boy. She took off the light jacket he was wearing and began to tear it to strips, wrapping them around what seemed to be the worst wounds. "D'you think you can walk? Nurse or hospital? Serenade help me support him we have to help!" She stream-of-counscoused as she hooked her arm under his and tried to gently pull him up.

Serenade took off her cashmere sweater and draped around his shoulders. It was clear to her that he was bleeding pretty badly, and she silently cursed the Tri stomps under her breath. Even as Static was calling for her to help, Serenade was already stooping under the changeling's arm, and attempting to stand up and pull him to his feet. She had no medical experience and couldn't really gauge the severity of his wounds. She glanced at Static briefly. "Let's get him to his feet, and get him to the nurse. She'll be able to gauge this better than us." She said urgently. "If we both carry him, he won't have to walk. Sir?" She turned her sky blue gaze towards him.

"My name is Starlit Serenade. This is my friend, Static Shock. We are going to help you." She said in the calmest voice she could muster, given the situation."We are going to carry you to the nurses office. If you could please stay awake while we do, I'd like to ask you some questions on the way." She said, nodding to Static, And hoping she'd catch on to help keep him conscious.

Chitin - Equuleus - Study Rooms

To the changeling's shock, these two, were actually helping him, one even bandaging some of the cracks in his exoskeleton with her jacket. He couldn't understand why. They could clearly see what he was. Yet even still they were trying to help him. With the help of the purple striped one, Chitin managed to somewhat support himself with her aid. "Three...st-stallions...I-I just bumped...bumped into one...why?" He managed to stutter. He heard mention of a hospital or nurse. Would they even be able to help him? He was a changeling not a pony. Then again he actually didn't know how different internally he was to these mares. Static and Serenade, these were kind mares. "Okay...Thank you..."

Serenade flashed him a nervous smile. "Alright then, let's move." She said firmly to Static. The mares were able to support enough weight between the two of them that he would hardly have to put his feet down at all as they scurried through the halls. Desperate to keep the changeling awake, Serenade began asking him a series of simple questions, to keep his mind engaged, "So, what's your name? Good, that's a nice name. Can you spell it for me? What's your favorite color, Chitin? Do you like milkshakes? What's your favorite class?" She queried, asking him every question she could think of that was short and simple.

It didn't take long to get to the infirmary, but it felt like hours. Serenade pushed the door open and walked them in slowly. Her eyes barely had time to land on the doctor pony before she was already on her feet and guiding then to a bed. The teal colored earth pony spoke in a calm yet firm manner as she helped the two mares put the changeling up onto the soft cot. " His name is Chitin? Good." She said as Serenade briefed her on the story. The made turned her bespecticled eyes back towards Chitin and pulled out a full first aid kit. "Chitin, my name is Dr. Honey Heart. I sent the nurse out for coffee, so I'm going to be taking care of you today." She said as she immediately began to clean his open wounds with alcohol swabs.

Serenade looked around for a moment before pulling up a set of chairs, sitting in one and patting the other to invite Static to sit down too. She folded her hands in her lap and watched the doctor intently, ready to stay with her new friends for the long haul.

Chitin - Equuleus - Study Rooms

Helped into the cot, Chitin laid still as the mare,Honey Heart, tended to his injuries, every now and then flinching at the stinging touch of the alcohol. "Ah! Uh, thank, again." Chitin said, looking over to Static and Serenade, "I'm sorry for what my people did last year." He added, feeling the need to, after what had just happened.

Letting his head rest, Chitin looked around the room. It was reasonable in size, a desk along one wall, a number of empty cots along the rest. His gaze however stopped on a clock hanging above the desk, 12:45. He was late! Ivy was waiting for him! "Ah!" He exclaimed as he tried to get up, his side aching, "ah!, I, I have to go! I have to get to the greenhouse!"

Static shrugged off the apology, leaning closer to Chitin. "Don't apologize for that it wasn't your fault and besides I was in Canterlot when it happen cuz I live there you know and it wasn't as bad as everyone says so don't worry about it!" She said with a big grin. "As for that why from before seems you just had a run in with the Tri-Stomps they're just huge jerks and they hate you probably jus cuz you're different and they're stupid and ignorant and hate anything that's different so I promise we're not all like that!"

Static nearly leapt out of her chair as Chitin jumped up, and put a hand on his shoulder, trying to hold him down. "Whoa there cowboy! You're all banged you shouldn't even be moving now! We can get a message to your girl that's no problem you just worry about you."

Serenade jumped to her feet as Chitin attempted to move, and put her hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry, Chitin. But you shouldn't be going anywhere in this state. The doctor needs to take care of you and you need to rest." She said firmly, then looked at Static confusedly, "His girl?" She mouthed silently, a perplexed look on her face. It would make sense, she guessed, based on his reaction. And the thought of it suddenly broke her heart for him. She put her hand on Static's arm and tilted her head towards the door. "Static, let's go get him something good to drink, if you don't mind?" She said, trying to be as discreet as possible. She wrapped her hand around her wrist and pulled her away as Dr. Heart handed Chitin some pills and a glass of water, telling him to take them for the pain.

As soon as they were outside the door, she turned and looked at Static. "Do you think he has a girlfriend? Should we go over there and look for her?" She asked quietly.

Chitin - Equuleus - Nurses Office

Thanking the doctor, Chitin took the pills, popping them into his mouth before downing the glass of water. Watching the two mares leave the room, the changeling waiting for the doctor to turn her back. He needed to get to the greenhouse. He was an hour late. He needed to see Ivy.

Readying himself. Chitin gritted his teeth as he rolled out of bed and roughly landing on his hooves. Pain shot through the changelings body as he took his first steps. Gasping he took a next step then another. Rounding the corner and trying to leave. He needed to get there and nothing was going to stop him.

Static followed Serenade out into the hall and kept walking, shrugging as her sense of wandering took over. "Iunno if he has a girlfriend or not he just got real excited about the greenhouse and since it's the weekend he was either meeting a girl there or he's REALLY into plants you know?" The purple unicorn stopped walking, screeching to a halt as a thought struck her. "We need to talk to Dean Hannibal! And keep the crime scene clear! You go see the Dean, I'll secure the classroom!" She cried, running down the hallway just in time to miss seeing Chitin run out of the office.

Doctor Heart turned back around as she heard the door open and caught just a glimpse of Chitin running out the door. She let out an exasperated sigh as the actual nurse returned with a cup of coffee and gave her a confused look. "I was gone for three minutes! What happened here?" She asked, wide eyed. Doctor Heart took the cup of coffee from her and took a sip. She shook her head and chuckled to herself. "Business as usual, Triage. Business as usual."

Serenade, meanwhile, nodded immediately to Static's suggestion and took off running in the other direction, making her way towards the dragon dean's office, hoping that she hadn't taken the Saturday off.

Static reached the classroom where the found Chitin in record time, identifiable by the green sludge on the floor. She dashed inside and closed the door, locking it behind her and setting down her bag. A trained ear outside the room might be able to hear clanking and whirring as inside, Static was setting up many of her small machines; dart launchers, tiny Tesla coils, electricity arcing and grounding itself all pointed towards the closed door. Static then grabbed a broom and twirled it around, pointing it towards the door and just waiting...

As Serenade and Hannibal blazed back into existence outside the door, Serenade fell to her knees, extremely dizzy. This had happened last time she had traveled by teleport as well, and her stomach threatened to void her lunch onto the floor. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and pointed to the door. "This... this is the room." She looked up slowly, "Static! Static, it's Serenade! I brought the Dean. Please open up."

Static perked up at the sound of a familiar voice outside the door, a bit disappointed that she wasn't going to be able to use any of her traps. Or was she...? No no, that would be mean. "Right! Dean Hannibal and Serenade! Come on-- No don't come in the door is seriously not safe right now okay so here's the idea if you're REALLY Serenade and the Dean then you can probably figure out a way in here without using the door like maybe the windows or teleporting but if you do that then don't teleport within like five feet of the door okay? ... Or I could clean all this up in like... Five minutes." She said, looking at the array of small machines that, in reality would likely only produce a minor annoyance to the Dragon dean.

Chitin - Equuleus - Main Building

"We said we'd meet at the greenhouse, I got chased by three stallions, they attacked me because I was, I am a changeling." Chitin managed to explain. He had simply given up on even trying to move at this point, the world was getting a tad fuzzy, like things were out of focus and his eyes feeling heavy. "Now, now I don't know where she is. Chitin mumbled. Yes, this had all just been a terrible idea. Leaving, going to the cafe, he had been so brash in his decisions. Right now he just wanted to sleep.

"It's just in here, " Storm motions to the room with a nod of his head, thanking Longshot for opening it, "We could use the student directory to find her number, Give her a call. That'd be quicker." Storm looks around for the doctor, and addresses her, "Hey, Doc, we've got a runaway, where can I put him?"
